Whether you need to refurbish a reading room or plan a new building, space planning is an essential component of any successful interior or architectural design project. This course will address the following questions: Why is an interior or architectural design program important? How is the library staff involved in the planning and design process? What kind of information must the library director have in order to make informed decisions? What is the process of developing a management plan? Who will be consulted when the designers have questions? How will internal communication be handled, and who will make decisions? Should every library construction project have a technical consultant?
