Indexing, classification and taxonomy, indexing language development, abstracting, algorithmic approaches. Subject organization and retrieval in a range of information systems and settings including Web sites and digital libraries. Practical exercises, individual or group projects, to-class presentations. 3 credits. Prerequisites: Reference (Simmons LIS 407) and Information Organization (Simmons LIS 415), or equivalents.
