Class Description | [Elective course for the CAS in Digital Libraries concentration.] Introduction to information policy concepts and issues relevant to the discipline of Library and Information Science. Considering information policy from a broadly-defined perspective, we will move from a macro-level exposition of the policy process and players toward an interrogation of various individual policy areas that have implications for information creation, ownership, control, access, and dissemination in the United States and in selected other countries. The emphasis in this course is placed on elaborating and examining the broader social, political, cultural, and economic contexts that attach to information policy issues.
