Class DescriptionExamines the nature of librarianship as a profession, issues related to information, and practices of information services from gendered perspectives using applicable feminist theoretical interpretations. OBJECTIVES: Upon completion of the course a student will better understand the gendered construction: •of librarianship as a profession, •of the philosophy and practices of library and information work, and •of information as a global entity. S/he will also be able to apply feminist theoretical concepts to information use and service.
