Class DescriptionOrganizing and structuring content to help individuals, communities, and organizations find and manage internal and external Web-based resources and services. Application of current coding, metadata, and style standards to create Web documents. Evaluation of Web site quality and usability, and assessment of resource discovery tools. Strategic planning and user needs analysis for information architecture. Content inventory, organization, and management in support of wayfinding and navigation. Design documents for prototyping large Web sites. Readings, essays, design projects. Students will communicate with the instructor and each other via real-time conversations using Skype software and a class wiki.

Class DisclaimerLIS 467 will be delivered via a class wiki. Students are required to regularly add content to the course wiki, develop podcasts and screencasts, communicate with the instructor and classmates via IM, discussion boards, and VOIP. Those in the course must have access to a computer microphone or digital voice recorder and computer speakers. Please allow 2-3 weeks for grade processing after the end date of the course. Check that this delay will not interfere with deadline dates at your school for graduation or financial aid.
