Class DescriptionThis course will serve as an introduction to comparative library and information service(LIS)in an international context. Students will study and discuss the social, political, cultural and economic influences on libraries and information use in various regions of the world. The relationship between power and information is explored. Themes will also include the development of LIS and the various approaches taken globally as well as the international cooperation among library agencies.
