WISE to Present at IFLA Conference in South Africa
August 7, 2007
WISE will be well represented at the 2007 International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions World Library and Information Congress in Durban, South Africa.
On Tuesday, August 21, Kathleen Schisa, WISE Director, and WISE student Ellen Forsyth, who also serves as a public library services consultant at the State Library of New South Wales, will present an overview of WISE and the spring 2007 WISE+ course, WISE Libraries: Designing the Public Library of the Future. The presentation, which focuses on the WISE model of online collaboration as well as the innovative library design course taught by Bruce Kingma and Rebecca Shaffer-Mannion of the iSchool at Syracuse University, will be part of a two hour session titled “E-learning: in search of collaboration and quality.” Other topics to be covered in the session include e-learning centers in South Africa, and the use of Moodle as a course tool for continuing education.
The IFLA World Library and Information Congress is held annually at varying locations across the globe. This year’s conference, "Libraries for the Future: Progress, Development and Partnerships" will be held the week of August 19 in Durban, South Africa, and will focus on the continued progress and development in library and information services.
