The WISE Consortium invites experienced and successful online
instructors at WISE member schools to deliver presentations on effective
online pedagogy at the ALISE 2008 Annual Conference in Philadelphia, PA. The presentations will take place during a half-day workshop sponsored by
WISE on the afternoon of January 8, 2008.
Presenters selected for this workshop will lead discussions and share
ideas about effective strategies based on their experience with
particular LIS courses and content areas. Priority will be given to
presentations that address the following issues related to online teaching:
* preparing students for online coursework and designing effective
assignments, including group work
* evaluating student work and providing feedback
* pedagogical pros and cons of new technology (e.g., Second Life,
wikis, blogs, podcasts, vodcasts)
Interested faculty are invited to submit a one-page proposal outlining
their presentation to amcki01s@uiuc.edu by
December 7, 2007.
