Joining WISE

Schools interested in joining WISE should contact support@wiseeducation.org for additional information including membership fee details.

Potential schools are asked to submit the WISE Checklist (.doc). completed in relation to the WISE quality metrics outlined in the document WISE: A Model for Quality Online Education in Library and Information Science (LIS) (pdf).  Schools are also asked to provide the information and items requested on the WISE Evidence of Quality Checklist (.doc).

Upon submission, the checklist will be reviewed by all member schools to determine if the applicant program will be a suitable addition to the consortium.

Membership Levels

Full Membership

Full WISE members currently offer high-quality online LIS courses and have the capacity to host students from other WISE schools in select online courses. Each semester, full members select courses from the complete list of online electives available to the consortium. The school approves the WISE courses that complement the home curriculum, and students are accommodated on a space-available basis.

Associate Membership

Associate membership provides an opportunity for schools with programs in development to begin exploring the benefits of online LIS education, with the guidance of an experienced organization and the support of highly regarded online LIS programs from around the world. Each semester, associate members choose courses from a select list of online electives available to the consortium. The school approves the WISE courses that complement the home curriculum, and students are accommodated on a space-available basis. Associate schools do not host students through WISE. We envision that the associate membership will provide an introduction to the consortium, and that many associate members will become full members as their institution’s online program develops.

All members are welcome to attend WISE administrative meetings at national and international conferences
